RESILIENCE.
It all begins with an idea.
Whether you are in life, being still or highest of highs or lowest of lows. Emotions are created from multiple things: finance, mentality or physical stresses and are hard to overcome. These stressors can be terrible for one’s well-being but good at the same time. It will either break you or make you stronger. I would believe someone now or in the past or future will go through these periods. Have you experienced one of these emotions? How did you feel? What did the outcome look like? Just be sure to never give up on yourself.
Use these emotions as fuel, desire to be stronger and strive to be better each day. It always seems to be easier said than done, right? How has the year gone for you? Have you met your yearly goals, saved up the savings account or been mentally stronger each day? Whatever your goals are, don’t let hardship overcome your life.
There are two months left in 2023. It’s never too late to make a start or re-amp to achieve your goals. Start with small daily habits and be consistent in these habits. It will establish a strong willpower for any individual and ensure you will carry the momentum throughout the new year. These small habits can include waking up earlier each day, making the bed straight away or drinking a certain amount of water. Whatever it is, make it suited to you. You will start to get into a routine and will desire to have these habits in your life. It will embark on resilience to overcome the hardships. Resilience is an important aspect of life. Introduce resilience and see the outcome.
Daily habits have been a key aspect throughout my life, especially when I was discharged from the hospital at the end of April. Before the end of my discharge, I was beginning to allow simple habits to enter my life. Wake up at 6 am, get up straight away, make the bed, and go for a light walk (grounding) in the sunshine, stretch the body out and shower before nurses come around. I was engaged with these habits to get back into routine as quickly as possible. I knew there was still hard work to achieve my goals. That’s why daily habits can help you strive for your goals.
I was more motivated than ever to get back into bodyboarding competitions, university, work, training and eating fresh produce/organic foods. I was sick of being cooped up in the hospital bed for a long time. To this date, I still have flashbacks. Instead of being upset by the circumstances, I use this as fuel.
When I was discharged, I had under a month to get back into training and bodyboarding to compete for the Queensland State Titles. I thought I wouldn’t make it. To be mentally and physically fit to compete. I had people stating “It’s too soon” but that left me hungry to chase my goal further. I was grateful enough to represent the QLD team at the Australian Titles in August. In between, I was selected to represent the Gold Coast Bodyboard team for the Port Macquarie Teams Challenge and competed in the Goose Gosby contest held in PMQ. I fell short in two contests. But this made me uncomfortable and pushed my abilities for what I had strived for. You don't lose in life. It’s either you win or you learn.
The process to achieve the goals was from discipline in my four walls from simple workouts, walks and yoga. I made sure to meet diet, water and sleep requirements to ensure my body was at rest.
I believe having discipline throughout life can support anyone's goals from training and dieting.
Other than competing, I was determined enough to finish my Bachelor of Marine Science degree at Griffith. Yet, getting back into the degree requirements and meeting assessment outcomes, I was satisfied to overcome this achievement.
Resilience is a major aspect for everyone. I believe an individual should be hungry to chase their goals in life. Whether you are starting off or striving through it. Daily habits are required action in a life. It will make you stronger, physically and mentally. Don’t give up on yourself.
