Welcome
A son, brother, nephew, grandson, friend, undergraduate and ocean enthusiast. Myself, KM originated from a small coastal town, Port Macquarie.
An ordinary unique kid who thrived off sports from a young age and who bumped over many relationships with friends and chicks, but we will keep it PG. I grew up playing one of Australia’s most iconic sports, footy (NRL) then eventually got into bodyboarding due to a lack of muscle development.
WHAT HAPPENED IN-BETWEEN?
You might be thinking, this kid seems like your ordinary country bloke who loves footy, skateboarding and bodyboarding. At the young age of 18 months, KM had been diagnosed with an auto-immune disease, which not only changed his own life but also his legendary parents, EM and MM.
This illness is a rare case that happens to one in thousands in Australia, if not, globally. But luckier enough, I was the one. Numerous genetic, saliva, blood and urine tests have been shared around the world. This disease has been treated and examined by Professors in the States, Melbourne and Sydney, coming back unheard of and could not be determined in the course of action. Everyone would be thinking, what does the answer look like? How can this be managed in any way?
TRAPS
This undiagnosed condition is frustrating, which is why we are here. We are here to take part, build a community, and support each other who then can share their learning experience and engage with others.
DREAM
In my early twenties, I’ve always been passionate about health and fitness. But not like a personal trainer, something more advanced which can be monitored for the long-term effect. Multiple factors such as sleep, diet, water and movement are essential for health.
This blog aims to share my autoimmune disease experiences and interact with fellow candidates via email, Zoom. or over a brew.
BLOGS
Blogs will be released monthly with high and down experiences. It will be supported by physical and mental scientific-based information to overcome episodes, supported with supplements, organic and free-range recipes and filtered water.
Did I mention that this disorder is part of the TRAPS family? What is TRAPS? A Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Associated Periodic Syndrome that involves being a rare genetic disease with episodes of abdominal, chest and muscle pain.
TRAPS is determined by a change of mutation, a specific gene from a protein, called itself, tumour necrosis factor receptor. This has increased the individual inflammatory response, showing from physiological stress can be the cause of a ‘flare up’.
WORK
How has one managed this disease, not only the disease itself but the symptoms? TRAPS is also partnered with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and for a patient, who experiences swollen joints and muscle aches, it’s a rough time. If you or know of someone, who has experienced this, keep reading.
